User/Password Analysis
The "User/Password Analysis" choice on the "Tests and Analysis" menu option enables you to view a report that shows statistical information about the Usernames and Passwords you have assigned:
For each category (usernames and passwords) the screen reports summary information; a frequency distribution of the number of characters; whether composed of letters, numbers, or both; and miscellaneous data that is intended to be useful to a security administrator in evaluating the strength of a password set and the likelihood that it can be compromised.
For each reported element, there is a "View" button, which, when clicked, allows you to "drill down" into the data and see the usernames (and passwords) in each reported category. For example, if the administrator clicks the "View" button in the "In Dictionary" line of the password column, he/she will see the passwords (and the associated usernames) that are found in a public domain dictionary of English words:
In general, longer usernames and passwords offer better security than shorter ones. Passwords that are not found in common dictionaries are preferable to those that are. Usernames and passwords that contain mixed letters and numbers are probably safer than those that do not. The "User/Password Analysis" screen can help you "fine tune" your password sets to obtain the optimal level of security you require.
The bottom rows of the username and password columns contain information that can indicate erroneous entry in the Password Set Data. There is a count of the number of duplicate usernames, users who have not been assigned a "First Secure Page", and users with invalid or missing passwords. By clicking the "View" button next to these items, it's easy to find data that may be in error. |
