Backup
The "Backup" menu suboption, under the "Utilities" option on the "Password Set Created!" screen enables you to make a backup copy of the WBPS database, including data for all Applications and Password Sets.
When you click on the "Backup" choice, you'll see a screen that permits you to select a name and location for the backup file:
Note that by default, the program will select the "data" subfolder under the folder where the WBPS program is installed (usually c:\Program Files\WebBuild Express\WBPS\data). You can change this to any location on your PC or network.
The file name will default to something similar to that shown above. It will begin "WBPS.Backup." and be followed by a representation of the date and time in YYYYMMDDHHMM format. The file's extension will be ".mdb" (Microsoft data base). You can change the name to anything you like by typing the new name in the "File name" field.
When the backup file is created, you will get a confirming message like the following:
Note that the WBPS will automatically create "automatic" backup files every time it runs and locate them in the "data" subfolder under the installation folder. They are:
WBES1.mdb – the database immediately prior to the current program run
WBES2.mdb – the database immediately prior to the last program run
WBES3.mdb – the database immediately prior to the second to last program run
WBES4.mdb – the database immediately prior to the third to last program run
WBESd.mdb – daily backup. (This file will be replaced with the current database if the current version of WBESd.mdb is more than 24 hours old)
WBESw.mdb – weekly backup. (This file will be replaced if over a week old)
WBESb.mdb – biweekly backup. (Refreshed if older than two weeks).
WBESm.mdb – monthly backup. (Replaced with current data if over a month old).
WBESr.mdb – the database immediately prior to the last restore from a backup file.
Despite the fact that the WBPS program creates these "automatic" backup files, we strongly encourage users to make their own backup copies and locate them in a safe place in a different location than that of the primary computer that maintains your WBPS application. |
