How it Works
Upgrading to the Most Current Version (1.1.14)
(released 2/14/2010)

You should always have the most current version of WebBuild Password Security installed on your system.

From time to time, we make changes in the software to improve its performance or to fix problems users have experienced. In addition, Version 1.1.14 includes several changes to enable WBPS to operate efficiently in the Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista operating systems and to function properly in Web environments where cookies may be written by other applications. The login process will now run on handheld devices, especially the iPhone and iPod Touch. This version contains all previously released upgrades..

How to tell what version is installed on your system

You can determine the version you have installed by clicking "About" on the menu of any screen in the program. You will see a screen that will show the Version Number (circled in the image below), the Serial Number (if purchased), the Date Installed, and the registered user's name:

How to upgrade to the current version

First (very important),
make a backup file containg your data. You should locate this backup copy on a removable medium (CD-ROM or Zip disk). (Click here for detailed instructions about making a backup file).

Second, uninstall WebBuild Password Security using the "Add or Remove Programs" function on the Control Panel. (
Vista users should choose "Uninstall a program" in the "Programs" section of their Control Panel).

Third, download the current version of WebBuild Password Security from our
download site. (You will be given the option to "Run" or "Save". Save the Setup.exe file to an area on your computer where you can find it easily -- like the desktop).

Fourth, after the WBPS_Setup_1114.exe file has been downloaded, run it. (You can click the "Run" button on the download screen). The new version of WebBuild Password Security is now installed.

Fifth, check your data in the program. If your most recent changes are in the database, then you're OK and you can run the new version of WBPS with your existing data.

If, however, you do not see your data, run WebBuild Password Security and Choose "Restore" on the "Utilities" menu choice (on the "Password Set Created!" screen) to restore your data.

Because there may be no data in the database, you can create a temporary Password Set in order to navigate through the screens to the "Password Set Created!" form. Just enter a dummy name (like "XXXX") for Application, Password Set, User Name, Password, and First Secure Page. The data you enter here for navigational purposes will be deleted when the data is restored from the Backup file.
